New leadership elected

Today on the 30th of April, the new Rights Office of the Student Council was elected at the Student Council’s annual election meeting. The new Student Council, elected on the 26th of March, will formally assume its duties at the handover meeting scheduled on the 29th of May, and the newly elected office will take over operations on the 1st of June.
The Student Council elections took place on 26th March, where Röskva, the organization for socially-minded students, secured 11 out of 17 council seats. At the election meeting, Katla Ólafsdóttir was elected President of the Student Council.
Katla Ólafsdóttir will graduate from the University of Iceland this spring with a degree in political science. She previously served as Röskva’s leader in the Student Council during the 2024–2025 term, giving her extensive knowledge of the council’s operations.
Additionally, Kjartan Helgi Guðmundsson, an industrial engineering student, was elected Vice President of the Student Council.
Auður Halla Rögnvaldsdóttir, a political science student, was elected Student Interest Representative.
Lastly, María Björk Stefánsdóttir, the outgoing leader of Röskva and a chemical engineering student, was elected Student Loan Representative.
