The Student Council
The Student Council consists of 17 representatives who are elected in the spring semester each year among all students at the University of Iceland. The representatives are determined in accordance with the number of students in each School of study. As the system is today, there are 3 representatives from each School, except for 5 representatives in the School of Social Sciences because it is the largest one. Students vote between lists of candidates within their School and the representatives of the council are given a seat in accordance with the proportion of votes.
Elections to the University Council take place every two years and are held alongside the Student Council elections, electronically at Uglan. Students have two elected representatives on the council for two years.
