Elections to the Student Council took place on 26 March, and the results can be found on the Council’s website.

Following the elections, the Student Council elects representatives to serve at the Student Council’s Office of Student Rights, as well as voting on other Council offices at a special election meeting. The election meeting will be held on 30 April at 17:30 (THIS ARTICLE WILL BE UPDATED WITH THE MEETING LOCATION). Student Council meetings are open to all in accordance with Article 9(a) of the Student Council’s Statutes.

Candidates may stand for the offices of President, Vice President, Interest Representative, and Student Loan Representative at the Student Council’s Office. Nominations are also open for standing committees and other offices under the Student Council. Those elected at the election meeting take up their duties at the handover meeting, in accordance with Article 4 of the Student Council’s Statutes. All individuals who have been registered as students at the University of Iceland within the last three years preceding the special election meeting are eligible for these positions.

Offices elected at the Student Council’s Office, pursuant to the Council’s Statutes:

• President of the Student Council
• Vice President of the Student Council
• Student Loan Representative of the Student Council
• Interest Representative of the Student Council

Committees of the Student Council, pursuant to the Council’s Statutes:

• Four representatives shall be elected to the Finance and Business Affairs Committee, the International Affairs Committee, the Environmental and Transport Committee, the Family Committee, the Social Life and Culture Committee, and the Legal Amendments Committee.
• Two representatives are elected to the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Committee.
• Five representatives are elected to the Equality Committee, one from each school, and these individuals also take seats on the Equality Committee of their respective school.

Nominations for office shall be submitted to the meeting chair, who is also the President of the Student Council, Arent Orri J. Claessen, before the election meeting at shi@hi.is or at the meeting itself.
