Registration for SHÍ’s Children’s Sports School is now open!

The SHÍ Sports School offers children of University of Iceland students and staff, aged 1–5, an opportunity for fun physical activity and social interaction. Sessions take place on Saturday mornings at the University of Iceland Sports Hall on Sæmundargata, and each session lasts 40 minutes. The first session is on October 10 and the last on November 21, for a total of seven sessions. *Please note that only registered children may participate.

The goal of the sports school is to provide children with opportunities for movement-based learning and to enhance their motor development and physical abilities. The program aims to improve coordination, self-confidence, and well-being. Obstacle courses play a major role in the activities, and exercises are designed to be varied so that there is something suitable for everyone. Work focuses on both fine and gross motor skills. Social development, cooperation, and consideration for others are key aspects of the program.

The fee is 3,500 ISK, with a 500 ISK discount for siblings; the total cost for two siblings would therefore be 6,500 ISK.

Parents actively participate in the sessions by assisting their children, providing a valuable opportunity to get to know them even better in a setting different from the usual routine. Payment details will be sent shortly after registration. Registrations are confirmed via email and processed in the order they are received; if the program fills up, subsequent registrations will be placed on a waiting list. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at shi@hi.is.

The SHÍ Family Committee organizes the sports school.
